Acrylic Painting

9am-10:30am MT from Banff
$150 for Tutorial
Expand your painting skills in 2025 with portrait painting. An online course that explores rendering portraits through simple guidelines, colour mixing and building layers.
Live sessions are recorded and available for students to download. (Some students only paint from the recordings - a private zoom meeting can be arranged at the end of the 5 weeks to go over their final piece of art).
Suggested Art Supply List
Acrylic paints

CANVAS SIZE square 12x12, 14x14, 20x20 or similar

Suggested colours: Alzarin red crimson, Burnt Sienna, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean or Colbalt Blue, Greens: ex. Hookers, Sap, Naples Yellow, Lemon/Cadium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber, Black, Titanium White

A table top easel

A Variety of Synthetic Brushes: flat brushes either 1/2 inch width or smaller, round brush with fine tip for any details, blending brushes, liner, Rigger Brush for very fine detailing

Water Glass

Spray Bottle

Rag for cleaning brushes in between coats

Hair Dryer is handy (in case you need to speed up drying time)

A palette for your paints or Palette Sheets with a plastic white plate works well

A palette knife or plastic knife for mixing

A printed version of your reference image in colour and in black & white
How ONLINE Classes work
A ZOOM link is sent to you upon registration. You can use the same meeting code for each tutorial
Each session is recorded and available for the week. If you prefer to access the tutorial longer you have the option to download it to your desktop.
The above reference image is sent via email. It's recommended to either print a copy in colour (black & white is also handy), or have it available every week during the tutorial on a separate device
